Shaker Pointe wins ‘best’ award

Shaker Pointe at Carondelet was recognized this month as the best independent living facility by Senior Housing News, which awarded it the publication’s 2014 Architecture & Design award.  The newly built complex, designed by David Danton and David Fowles from KDA Architects in Voorhees, N.J., includes a fitness center with an indoor pool, Resident Dining Room as well as a Bistro and The Restaurant at the Pointe, and an on-site doctor’s office.  The community, developed by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, received LEED platinum certification under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.
