Shaker Pointe was established by the Sisters of St. Joseph as an extension of their longstanding commitment to serving the community, an initiative rooted deeply in their ethos of addressing the needs of the ‘Dear Neighbor.’
For over 150 years, the Sisters have played an instrumental role in the provision of education, healthcare, social, and hospitality services across various regions of New York State, particularly within the 14 counties of the Albany Diocese. Their substantial impact is further evidenced through their associations with notable entities such as the Ascension Health System, the College of Saint Rose, the Carondelet Music Center, and the Carondelet Hospitality Center.
At the heart of Shaker Pointe, our core values are reflected in every aspect of our community:
We invite you to reflect on the mission of Shaker Pointe through the insights of our founders, Sister Lauren Vandermark and Sister Kay Ryan, who have been pivotal in guiding our vision and ensuring that our operations align with the altruistic goals of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Their dedication and leadership continue to inspire our efforts and our community’s direction.
